1806 Napoleon franc minted that is later used on the watch Lex receives from his mother, Lillian Luthor. Revealed in 1.10 Shimmer.
1870's
1871 A strange contagion struck the Morelly Settlement (in modern-day Smallville), due to the Nicodemus flower. Two hundred people died almost over night. A priest keeps an account of the events in "The Nicodemus Diary." Revealed in 1.15 Nicodemus. Lex's property is built on the original settlement.
1900's
c. 1901 Nicodemus flower goes extinct. Revealed in 1.15 Nicodemus. The Nicodemus flower existed for hundreds of years. Native Americans developed an herbal antidote.
1920's
1921 Krissy Parker first drains youth/life out of victims in order to remain young, at Hammonds School for Girls. Revealed in 2.06 Redux. Revealed by Chloe's research.  Krissy went by different names over the years.
1930's
1935 Jim Gage's father, Randolph, opens the first car dealership in Smallville. Revealed in 1.06 Hourglass.
1940's
c. 1945 Hiram Kent (Jonathan's father) was a juror on the Harry Volk (Bollston) murder trial. Revealed in 1.06 Hourglass.
1950's
1957 Lewis Lang born. Revealed in 1.01 Pilot. Shown on tombstone.
1959 Laura Lang born. Revealed in 1.01 Pilot. Shown on tombstone.
1960's
June 1961 Jor-El is sent to earth by his father and passes through Smallville on his way home.  He uses the name Joe.

Lachlan Luthor tries to rob Louise, Lana's great-aunt, and Joe prevents him. Joe and Louise fall in love.

Lachlan Luthor shoots Louise, who dies in Joe's arms. Hiram Kent helps Joe to escape.

Sheriff Tate covers up the truth and has Dexter (Louise' husband) jailed.

Revealed in 3.06 Relic.  
Late 1961 Jonathan Kent is born. Revealed in 3.06 Relic. His mother was visibly pregnant with him in June 1961.
c. 1960s to early 1970s Whitney's dad George/Jack Fordman (depending on the source) lettered in three sports at Kansas State University. Revealed in 1.17 Reaper. Whitney mentions this when Clark confronts him at the basketball court.
1970's
1972 Ms. Taylor drove the car for the radical group that planted explosives outside the Seattle Bank. Revealed in 3.18 Truth.  
1974 Desiree Atkins (Alison Sanders) is born in Smallville on August 12. Revealed in 2.02 Heat.
1977 Laura Lang graduates Smallville High as valedictorian. Revealed in 1.04 X-Ray.  
c. 1979/1980 Martha Clark meets Jonathan Kent at Met U. He's taking a finance course, and she asks to borrow his notes (even though she's class note taker). Revealed in 1.15 Nicodemus. Jonathan was born c. 1961 - Hiram's wife is pregnant in Relic.
1980's
1980 Lex Luthor is born. Revealed in 1.01 Pilot. Lex - "I've been bald since I was nine."
1981 Robin Stroud (Krissy Parker) is at Lakewood High where three pupils die of uber-progeria. Revealed in 2.06 Redux. Chloe reads it from an online newspaper article.
1982 Jonathan proposes to Martha.  He asks her father for permission to marry Martha, and ends up punching him. Revealed in 2.06 Redux. Clark says "twenty years" have passed since the argument between William Clark and Jonathan.
c. 1984 Lucas Luthor is born. Revealed in 2.15 Prodigal. It is mentioned in Prodigal that Lucas has recently turned 18.
1985 Lewis and Laura Lang file for divorce. Revealed in 2.06 Redux.
1985 Laura Lang and Henry Small have an affair. Revealed initially in 2.06 Redux. The date 7/85 is stamped on the back of a photograph of the two of them.
c.1986 Lewis and Laura Lang get back together. Revealed in 2.06 Redux.
1986 Byron Moore is born. Revealed in 2.05 Nocturne. His gravestone reads 1986 1994.
1986 Lana Lang born.

 

Revealed in 1.01 Pilot. Lana - "My parents died when I was three."
1986 Emily Dinsmore is born. Revealed in 2.21 Accelerate.  
Oct 1989 Lionel Luthor travels to Smallville to buy a factory from the Ross brothers.  That same day, meteors hit the town, killing several people, including Lewis and Laura Lang. 

A space ship containing a young boy arrives on earth in the meteor shower and is found by Jonathan and Martha Kent, who raise the boy as Clark Kent.  Lex Luthor is injured in the meteor shower and loses his hair.   

Jeremy Creek is strung up as a scarecrow and goes into a coma after the meteor shower.

1989 Lionel Luthor founds Metropolis United Charities. Revealed in 2.07 Lineage.
c. 1989 Clark, as a child, breaks the Kents' dining table. Revealed in 4.14 Krypto
1989 - 1991 Kyle Tippett and Bob Rickman are Salesmen of the Year. Revealed in 1.11 Hug.
1990's
1980's/1990's Lex is locked in the cellar of the mansion. Revealed in 4.17 Onyx. Actual date unknown.
1990 One of Dr. Swann's receiving stations picks up a faint signal from Krypton. Revealed in 2.17 Rosetta. Dr. Swann says he picked up the signal thirteen years earlier.
1990 Missy Parker (Krissy Parker) is at Piper High School, Florida, where three pupils die of uber-progeria. Revealed in 2.06 Redux. Chloe reads it from an online newspaper article.
1991 Chloes mother reportedly leaves the family. Revealed in 2.07 Lineage. Chloe mentions being five when her mother left.
c. 1991 Lex's baby brother Julian dies. It's later revealed that Lex covered for his mother, who killed Julian. First mentioned in 1.16 Stray, later revealed in 3.19 Memoria. Lex says his mother got pregnant when he was 11.
1993 Lillian Luthor dies. Lionel forces Lex's caretaker, Pamela Jenkins, to leave because he wants Lex to be "his son" and not Lillian's. Revealed in 1.19 Crush.  
c. 1993, possibly later. Lionel sells his ranch in Montana (where Lex has spent summers with his mother). Revealed in 2.15 Prodigal. Lex says his father sold the ranch after his mother's death.
c. 1993-1994 As first-graders, Clark beats up a fourth-grade bully in Pete's defense. Revealed in 1.14 Zero. Discovered when Chloe is doing an English project researching Clark.
c. 1994 Clark and Jonathan begin taking annual fishing trips. Revealed in 1.17 Reaper.  
1994 Lex Luthor is nearly expelled from Excelsior Prep school.  His father bribes the school trustees, Lex remains, and the headmaster, Mr. Reynolds, is "allowed to go". Revealed in 2.06 Redux. Lex says he was 14 when the events occurred.
1994 Byron Moore's parents, in collaboration with Dr. Emil Jenkins, fake Byron's death after drug trials go wrong. Revealed in 2.05 Nocturne. Mr. and Mrs. Moore say their son died eight years ago.  Also, Byron's gravestone reads 1986 1994.
1996 Lana visits Metropolis with her aunt (for a horse-riding competition), goes to the Luthor home and sees Lex skinny-dipping. Revealed in 1.02 Metamorphosis. Lana mentions this event to Lex, saying it happened five years earlier.
1996 Emily Dinsmore drowns in an accident. Revealed in 2.21 Accelerate.  
1996 Perry White tries to interview Lex at boarding school to get dirt on Lionel. Revealed in 3.05 Perry. Lex says this happened when he was sixteen.
1997 - 1999 The Levitas Project was abandoned, according to Lionel Luthor. Revealed in 3.18 Truth. Lionel says the Levitas Project was abandoned 5-7 years ago. 
Early 1999

Lex takes his friend Amanda to Club Zero. There they find Amanda's fianc, Jude Royce, cheating on her.  Lex is stabbed by Jude Royce's knife.  Amanda then shoots Jude at the club, killing him.

Lex took the blame for Royce's death to save Amanda.  Lex seeks treatment from Toby, staying away from the hospitals at Phelan's orders.

Revealed in 1.14 Zero.

In "Zero" they say the Club Zero incident took place 'three years ago.'

1999 Helen Bryce is dating Paul Hayden. Revealed in 2.19 Precipice. Paul indicates she "couldnt take her eyes off" the flower arrangement he sent at the Metropolis Flower show in 1999.
2000
c. 2000-2001 An eighth-grade Chloe moves to Smallville. Clark is her first kiss. Revealed in 1.20 Obscura.  
2001
c. March 2001 Amanda Rothman (a friend of Lex's) commits suicide following the events at Club Zero. Revealed in 1.14 Zero.  
June 2001 Mysterious explosion at the LuthorCorp plant in Smallville. This is supposedly what led to Earl Jenkins' mutation, and subsequent acts of desperation. Revealed in 1.08 Jitters.
Fall 2001 Clark, Lana, Pete and Chloe begin high school.    
Fall 2001 Abigail Fine is mortified at a pep rally by the Crows' teasing her about her bad complexion. Revealed in 4.03 Facade.  
Mid Oct 2001

Lex Luthor is sent to Smallville to run Fertilizer Plant No. 3.  He crashes his car over Loeb Bridge, hitting Clark, who rescues him.  They become friends.

Clark learns that he is an alien, and first sees his space ship.

Chloe first shows Clark the Wall of Weird.

Jeremy Creek wakes from his coma with the power to conduct electricity and takes revenge on the jocks who strung him up.

Homecoming dance Pete and Chloe go together as friends, Whitney and Lana as a well-established couple and Homecoming King and Queen.

Clark is strung up as the scarecrow by Whitney and other jocks and is rescued by Lex.

Mid Oct 2001

Greg Arkin (aka Bug Boy), attacks and kills his mother, then kidnaps Lana Clark and Whitney rescue her.

Whitney is injured in the truck accident caused by Gregs attack.

Clark learns more about his powers (he floats, is invulnerable to fire, and lead protects him from the meteor rocks).

Clark starts to develop a friendship with Lana. Lex and Lana meet in Smallville for the first time.

1.02 Metamorphosis This episode starts the day after the Homecoming Game shown in the pilot.
Late Oct 2001

Clark joins the football team, briefly.  The football coach, Coach Arnold, can control fire, and sets the Principal's car, The Torch, and the field sprinklers on fire he eventually burns to death.

Lana quits cheerleading and gets a job at The Beanery, but gets fired after one day.

Lex outwits Lionel in a business argument.
1.03 Hothead Aired 10/30/2001
Early Nov 2001

Clark develops X-Ray vision.  Tina Greer robs Smallville bank appearing to be Lex.  She then morphs into the appearance of Lana is uncovered by Clark's new X-Ray vision and defeated by him in a fight.

Lana finds her mother's diary.

Lex is blackmailed by Roger Nixon, and then hires him to research his accident.

Chloe and Lana's friendship begins.
1.04 X-Ray Aired 11/06/2001

Clark and Pete walk past a shop that seems to be selling nothing but pumpkins, so it may be Halloween or Thanksgiving. 

Mid Nov 2001

Sean Kelvin shows interest in Chloe, but falls through the ice and Crater Lake and is exposed to meteor rocks.  Afterward, the only way he can warm up is by sucking the heat from other peoples bodies.

The Kents are having trouble paying their bills.  Lex invites Martha and Jonathan Kent to the mansion and offers to help them with their financial difficulties, but Jonathan later decides against accepting the offer.

Clark's first "date" with Lana. Lex eggs him on to ask her, gives them tickets to a Radiohead concert and lends them the limousine. The date is interrupted when Clark has to rescue Chloe from being frozen by Sean Kelvin.
1.05 Cool Aired 11/13/01
Mid Nov 2001

While doing community service at a retirement home, Clark meets Cassandra Carver, who lost her sight on the day of the meteor shower. Her visions reveal grim futures for Clark and Lex.

She tells Clark that someone close to him will die soon.

Harry Bollston (Volk), a resident of the retirement home and a gifted pianist, is exposed to meteor rocks and becomes a young man again.  He commits another murder and attempts two more (Zoe at the Beanery and Martha Kent) in revenge for being imprisoned for murder sixty years before.
1.06 Hourglass Aired 11/20/01
Late Nov 2001

Jodi Melville goes on a diet utilizing vegetables grown near meteor rocks.  This helps her lose weight rapidly but gives her a massive appetite she cant control.

Dr. Vargas is running tests on Lex and determines his white cell count is "unusually elevated".  Lex says at the end of the episode that hes been given "a clean bill of health."

Lanas birthday party is planned by Nell and held at the Luthor Mansion.

Whitney gets a tryout with Kansas State .

Lex visits the Torch office for the first time and has his first scene with Chloe.

Lex meets Dr. Hamilton for the first time.  He hires him to do research.

Clark sets up the Kents' truck and a projector outside the barn and gives Lana a "drive-in movie" for her birthday.
1.07 Craving Aired 11/27/01
Mid Dec 2001

Jonathan and Martha travel to Metropolis for their honeymoon, and Clark takes advantage of their absence to throw a party that gets out of hand. 

Earl Jenkins, former LuthorCorp employee, is desperate to prove the existence of a mysterious "Level 3" at LuthorCorp so that he can be cured of the mysterious "jitters" that afflict him.  He takes a class of Smallville High students hostage at the plant and Lex trades himself to gain their freedom.
1.08 Jitters Aired 12/11/01

Jonathan and Martha's anniversary falls during this episode.  The next time their anniversary occurs is in the season 2 episode "Insurgence", which aired 01/21/03.

c. Dec 2001 to Jan 2002 Principal Kwan's son, Danny, is responsible for a hit-and-run that leaves high school student Justin Gaines hospitalised and without use of his hands. Revealed in 1.19 Crush. It's mentioned in "Crush" that Justin has been in the hospital for five months.
2002
Mid Jan 2002

At a museum in Metropolis, Clark stops a careening bus from injuring anyone.  This attracts the attention of crooked cop Sam Phelan, who tries to utilize Clark's powers for his own benefit.  Phelan frames Jonathan for murder.

Principal Kwan suspends Chloe as Torch editor and appoints Lana in her place.

Phelan is killed at the museum while trying to effect a robbery.
1.09 Rogue Aired 01/15/02
Late Jan 2002

Amy Palmer, the daughter of servants at the manor, has a crush on Lex, and steals the watch given to him by his mother.  Her brother, Jeff, has the power of invisibility and acts out his anger at his sister's predicament.

Clark helps Lana with a blood drive at school.  They appear to be growing closer.  He asks her to watch the sunset from his loft.

Victoria is doing research on Lex's computer, but he infers to Clark that he is aware of what is going on.   Clark expresses bewilderment at the relationship.

Lionel warns Lex against Victoria.

Clark learns that Whitney's father has a heart condition and decides it wouldn't be fair to pursue Lana at this time. 

Clark rescues Victoria Hardwick from drowning

The Palmers leave the mansion.
1.10 Shimmer Aired 01/29/02
Early Feb 2002

Bob Rickman and Kyle Tippett, previously a sales team, have the power of influencing the behavior of others with a handshake.

Rickman tricks Jonathan into selling the farm  Lex gets him out of the contract.

Tippett tricks Chloe into revealing her feelings for Clark.

Lana becomes angry with Clark for questioning Whitney's attack of Kyle.  At the end, they make peace and Lana says they will be friends for "a very long time"

Clark is shot by Lex while Lex is under the influence of Bob Rickman's handshake.

In the loft, Lex tells Clark their "friendship will be the stuff of legend."
1.11 Hug Aired 02/05/02
Mid Feb 2002

A freak lightning strike causes Clark's powers to be transferred to a fellow student, Eric Summers.  Clark has his first experience of being "normal".

Roger Nixon and Lex are still working together to investigate Clark.  Lex warns Nixon never to leak any of the information.

Lex asks Clark to tell him the truth about what happened at the bridge, but Clark angrily denies there is anything unusual about him.  When Clark is injured, Lex visits him in the hospital.  At the end of the episode, Lex tells Nixon to stop investigating the Kents, and that Clark is normal.

Lex meets with the Hardwicks, who have purchased Cadmus Labs based on Victoria's "research".  Upon learning it is worthless, Victoria breaks with Lex.

Lana learns that Nell is planning to sell the Talon.

Clark's powers are transferred back (again by lightning) at the end of the episode .

Nixon brings Lex photographic evidence of an affair between Lionel and Victoria .

Clark gives Lex's lead box to Lana.
1.12 Leech Aired 02/12/02
Late Feb 2002

Whitney falls in with a gang of young men who use their ability to walk through walls to facilitate robberies.

Chloe interviews Lex at the mansion, and Clark tapes it.  When chased during the robbery, Chloe falls from a window and ends up in the hospital.

Whitney is upset about the prospect of having to stay in Smallville and losing his football scholarship.

The gang reveals that Lex has tapped into Lionel's computer system and is stealing money from him.

Clark saves Whitney's life and he and Lex work together to catch the villains.

Lana approaches Lex for help with saving the Talon.  Initially, he is unimpressed.  After she does some research and presents him with an adequate business proposal, he agrees to fund the restoration and operation.
1.13 Kinetic Aired 02/26/02
Early to mid March 2002

Lex's wild past is revealed: he took the blame for friend Amanda Rothman, who killed her fiance Jude Royce three years ago at Club Zero.

Amanda's brother comes to Smallville, taunting Lex with a Jude lookalike. The brother blames Lex for Amanda's suicide a year earlier. Clark saves Lex from the brother.

The brother spills toxic LuthorCorp waste on the Kents' land. A cattle herd dies. And a shaken Martha later tells Clark to 'cool things off' in his friendship with Lex.

The Talon is about to reopen as a coffee shop under Nell Potter's management.

Whitney is preoccupied with his father's illness.

Clark finds out that his adoption may be illegal, after Chloe investigates. She agrees to stop, but doesn't delete his adoption file.

Max Kasich (former head of security at Club Zero) is killed by Rothman.
1.14 Zero Aired 03/12/2002
Late March 2002

A wild driver, James Beales, crashes his car, and almost runs over Jonathan.

The driver was infected with Nicodemus flower, causing people (Jonathan, Lana, Pete) to act out of character and then slip into a coma. An antidote is found in "The Nicodemus Diary," thus saving everyone.

Chloe investigates the flower, Lana hits on Clark and steals Lex's car (while infected), Pete reveals his jealousy of Lex (while infected).

Clark takes Lana to the top of the Cooper's Field Windmill.

Lex's employee, Dr. Hamilton was testing the flower. Beales was working for Hamilton, who is transferred from Smallville to Cadmus Labs.

The bank turns down the Kent's request for a loan.
1.15 Nicodemus Aired 03/19/2002

People are dressed fairly warmly when outside, so early spring would seem likely.

Mid April 2002

The Kents take in a runaway boy named Ryan James.  He can read minds and has been exploited by his step-parents.

Ryan likes Warrior Angel comics (so does Lex), Lana, and learns Clark's secret. He warns Clark about Lex.

Ryan goes to live with an aunt in Edge City.

Lionel wants Lex to return to Metropolis.

We learn about Lex's baby brother Julian, who died.*
1.16 Stray Aired 04/16/2002

Late April 2002

A worker at the Mobile Meals Center (Tyler Randall) kills an older woman named Mrs. Sikes. He also kills Hank Richards, the center's organizer.

Tyler turns people to dust with his hand. He gets this power after he falls out of a hospital window.

Tyler tries to kill Whitney's father, but Clark intervenes.

Clark confronts Whitney about his sick father, and gets Whitney to visit the hospital.

Lionel sends Dominic Senatori to investigate Lexs corporate spending.

Dominic reveals to Jonathan that Lex is investigating the Kents. Lex delivers a tied up Dominic to Lionel in Metropolis.

Lex has the Metropolis Sharks play with Whitney in Smallville so that Whitney's dad can watch.
