Background:
Tyler Randall's mother is very ill and in the hospital. She asks him to help her die, and he attempts to smother her. Caught in the act, he falls out of a window and several stories to his death. A fragment of meteor rock driven into his skin brings him back to life on the autopsy table and endows him with the power to turn people to ash with a touch.

Tyler volunteers at the Mobile Meals in Smallville, and makes it his mission to free ill and elderly people from their suffering. He kills Mrs. Sikes, an elderly woman on the route, and also Pepper, her dog. He attempts to kill Mr. Fordman (Whitney's father) as well. At the end of the episode, he uses his power on himself and is burned to ashes.
